With fall literally less than a week away (I know, I can’t believe it either), I’ve begun unboxing fall skincare and haircare products to transition my beauty routine for the cooler, dryer months. No matter the season, my hair and skin are chronically parched, and living in Los Angeles doesn’t help my efforts to find the best products for dry hair and skin. But after recently adding the coveted Gisou Hair Oil into my post-shower routine, I think I might have found the hair serum of my dreams.
Gisou Hair Oil Review
Despite having dry hair, my long strands are relatively healthy. I credit this to regular trims (a must if you want long locks), switching to semi-permanent hair dye, and minimal heat styling (I’ve used my Dyson Airwrap almost exclusively for five years). But, hair health aside, the dryness can often make my locks look dull, feel a bit straw-like, and result in a lot of frizz when I let my strands air dry. I’m not one to load my hair up with a ton of product but after adding the Gisou Hair Oil into my routine and treating it like my hair’s equivalent to a good, nourishing face serum—which I never skip—I realized that giving my ‘do a little extra oomph with this elixir is a total game changer.
The hair oil is formulated with Mirsalehi honey, which is a natural humectant (meaning, it attracts moisture) and rich in vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals that can improve hair hydration and make your strands look a lot more shiny. It also features a bee garden oils blend that consists of eight different oils, including sweet almond oil and coconut oil, for further nourishing powers. Plus, it has the added benefits of vitamin E for its antioxidant and UV protection perks—something I can definitely use more of in sunny LA.
From a visual standpoint, I haven’t seen a major change in my strands. It’s a bit glossier and results in a smoother blowout whenever I use my Dyson styler. However, the texture of my hair has completely changed since adding it into my routine. The deeply nourishing hair oil for dry hair has worked its magic to soften my thirsty strands, making them feel super silky post-blowout and between washes when the moisture in my hair usually evaporates (or, at least that is what it appears to do).
After weeks of testing, I can honestly say that this is worth adding to your haircare routine, regardless of your hair type. Albeit a deeply nourishing oil, it has a more lightweight texture, so it won’t weight your strands down. The naturally hydrating ingredients give your hair a nice moisture boost to soften your locks and give a slight shiny finish for healthier-looking strands.
